Banana-nut Protein Smoothie

Smoothies are one of the best ways to get all the nutrients you need in one simple drink. There are sooo many healthy combinations and recipes out there it would be impossible to make them all, BUT here are two that are delicious and fun to make for yourself or your little ones at home. The best part about smoothies is you can mix and match, add or delete ingredients and still create a healthy meal.

Superfood Green Smoothie

  • 1 Cup Baby Spinach: Spinach is a great source of vitamin A, C and K as well as iron and magnesium.

  • 1 Cup frozen Pineapple chunks: High in antioxidants and can help boost immunity. Pineapple is full of vitamins and minerals.

  • 2 Cups plain Kefir or Greek Yogurt: A great source of probiotics, calcium and protein.

  • 1 inch Fresh Ginger: Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and can help ease digestion.

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder or 1 inch fresh turmeric: Turmeric is another great anti-inflammatory.

Banana-Nut Protein Smoothie

  • 1 banana, fresh or frozen

  • 2 tbsp nut butter (almond, peanut, sunflower)

  • 2 tbsp protein powder (chocolate or vanilla depending on what flavor you want)

  • 1 tsp hemp, chia, flax seeds (add all these or any combo of the three)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 - 1 1/2 cup milk, add more if you want not as thick (almond, coconut, whole milk, etc.)

  • Dash of cinnamon

  • Handful ice, optional

How to Make a Smoothie:

  1. Throw all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glass and enjoy :)
